Dr.
Namie earned a University of California doctorate
in Social Psychology. He won campus and national
awards for excellence in teaching psychology, research
methodology and statistics. He was a professor
of management at the University of Southern California.
His postdoctoral teaching career began at Scripps
College. Original research areas included prosocial
behavior and empathy. During his 19-year university
teaching career which ended in 1994, he taught every
course in graduate business curricula except finance.
He was also a corporate manager for two regional
hospital systems as Director of Organization Development.
For them, he designed and delivered hundreds of
educational programs and facilitated strategic sessions
with executives facing corporate consolidation issues.
From 1985-1997 through TWD, Gary was a management
consultant to government agencies and companies
in America and Europe, specializing in Quality Management.
As a professional speaker, he has delivered
over 500 seminars, courses and speeches on every
imaginable workplace topic. Gary is Managing Partner

Since 1997, he has concentrated exclusively on introducing
Workplace Bullying to North America -- first to
the general public and now to employers.
For the nonprofit education organization, the Campaign
Against Workplace Bullying, he serves as Research
Director, producing the largest study of bullied
individuals in the world. To raise awareness about
the phenomenon, the pioneers Gary and Ruth Namie
-- have made over 300 appearances on TV and radio
and in magazines and newspapers on the topic.

It
was Dr. Namie's personal experience that led to
the founding of the nonprofit education, research
and reform organization, the Campaign Against Workplace
Bullying (bullybusters.org). Since 1998 she has
coached over 4,000 victims of workplace bullying.
That work, coupled with her 14 years in the clinical
field treating chemically dependent individuals
and families and preparation with a doctorate in
Clinical Psychology, makes Dr. Namie an international
expert in Work Trauma the effects of repeated,
unremitting bullying and humiliation on individuals.
She co-authored two books. She conducts public education
and training for the certification of fellow mental
health professionals.
Prior to her graduate education, Ruth was an executive
with Sheraton Hotels in Hawaii where she served
as corporate Training Director and Executive Committee
member. Her business career began in retail management.
She launched The Work Doctor, a woman-owned, family-run
consulting firm in 1985. The Work Doctor is the
only U.S. consulting firm to specialize in anti-bullying
systems for employers. Her particular role in the
Blueprint system is to oversee the clinically-oriented
training modules and team interventions.
Gary and Ruth Namie are co-authors of BullyProof
Yourself At Work (DoubleDoc Press, 1998-99),
The Bully At Work (Sourcebooks, 2000) and
the forthcoming Blueprint for a Bully-Free Workplace
(2001). Gary writes and edits this internet site.
Ruth and Gary designed the comprehensive Blueprint
TM system to create
hostility-free, bullying-free workplaces.
